Kinja'd!!!

I was scrolling through my absolute favorite advertising social media app today and came across this gem. Clicking on the comments on car manufacturer ads is one of my favorite things to do, as you get to see some great examples of who’s buying whatever car is being advertised.

Usually, you either get people that love their car, people that are having issues with their vehicle, or people who can’t afford the new Supra, but continuously complain “IT neEDS A 2jz, i wOuLD nEveR BuY ThiS”.

Anyways, this comment thread stood out to me today. Commenter #1 loves her Jeep Cherokee and wanted to tell the world. Woo! However, Commenter #2, is not pleased with her Compass and for some reason needs a random Facebook stranger to help.

Apparently , Commenter #2 bought a 2wd Compass thinking it was equipped with 4 wheel drive. I lol’d at the part where the salesperson allegedly said “he thought it might” have 4wd. Poor Commenter #2 is probably stuck with a 2wd Compass because both her and the salesperson assumed it was equipped 4wd. So much stupidity in one transaction!

I know we are the exception , not the reality when it comes to pur chasing vehicles, but wow could you imagine ending up in this situation. Let’s hope for her sake the dealer takes it back, but you never know. Hope you all find this amusing like I do!

Odd that even a 2wd Compass is having that much trouble making it up a driveway, I feel like we need more details, could be an interesting story. Does she live on the side of a mountain?

I told my cousin to rent something with AWD to go skii ng in Tahoe. Rental guy gave them a Titan and said the 4x4 was “ automatic”. They ended up snowed in at Kirkwood. I blame the rental company.

I posted my Forte on CL (always gotta try) as a 2018 Kia Forte LX

Got one email that said “is it an LX?”

I said yes and never heard back.

open diff with 2wd and shitty tires?  Any inclination without momentum and you’re not making it far.

Yes & No. It should be able to get around fine with 2wd, but if I had to guess, she probably has a steeper rural driveway. Who knows though. Maybe I should investigate lol.

Oof I could see that happening. I’d be inclined to blame the rental company too, but I worked for one all through college and can say most of the people aren’t “ car guys/girls” and know very little about whatever vehicle they’re renting. However, that’s probably something they should train on.

I sometimes do not understand people’s thought processes when writing comments. What does the size of her Durango have to do with anything?

The tires are probably key, I assumed Jeeps would come with decent ones from the factory, given the brand image. But, I know the low rolling resistance tires Ford puts on the Escape are totally useless, a Mustang on racing slicks probably has better traction.

And  I got 3x the cheese slices which is twice the size

if they don’t know how to even engage 4wd, that is probably for the best.

It was a RWD truck! They specifically made sure to ask for a 4WD/AWD vehicle and how to engage it. Hence the rental company’s fault.

Opps. i read that differently. I used to so some light offr oa ding at a popular summer spot and it was always telling what city slicker jsut br ought his canyanero out for the first time, as it would be promptly buried up to the rear axle in soft sand

I’m going to assume this individual is leasing a Compass Sport FWD since this is the one that sells like hotcakes to college/post college students. If so, those skinny C ontinentals are as good as spare tires. I had a Renegad e Sport for a while. E ven though I opted the 4wd option, it came with those continentals.

Tires definitely are, but no manufacturer is immune to shitty OEM tires, especially on their base models built to hit a price point.
